Donald Dean Smith

Donald graduated from Franklin Heights in the class of 1961. He worked most of his career in the food retail business at Albers, IGA, Z Produce and most recently at Kroger, where he was well known and liked by both his coworkers and customers.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents and 9 of his 10 siblings: Orval, Robert (Bernice), James (Carol), Roy, Albert “John” (Dorothy), George Smith and Louise (Cecil) Spangler, June (Jerry) Johnson, and Donna “Nancy” (Ted) Wetzel.

Donald had an interesting sense of humor and a quick personality. He is survived by and will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Carolyn, daughter Deanna (Curtis) Grant, son Donald “Dean” (Valerie) Smith II, grandson Aaron (Sheila Shaffer) Bealer, brother Charles (Brenda) Smith, sister-in-law Carrie Smith, and many nieces and nephews.

Donald’s family would like to extend special thanks and gratitude to the nurses and staff at Meadow Grove Transitional Care Center for the attention and care that Donald receive while he was with them.

Family will receive friends on Friday November 26, 2021, from 6pm to 8pm at Schoedinger Funeral Service, 3920 Broadway, Grove City where a funeral service will be conducted at 1pm on Saturday, November 27, 2021. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery.
