

Donald J. Wells, 85, of Columbus, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. He was born August 11, 1928 in Cleveland, OH. Don was an avid tennis player and served as a combat infantryman in the Korean Conflict where he received many citations. He graduated from the OSU School of Landscape Architecture and practiced in Cleveland, Lake County and Columbus. He retired from the Federal Highway Administration. He was a life member of the VFW and American Legion Post #430. He is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Rose (Schenck) Wells; children Amy (Jeff) Carter of Gahanna, Andrew (Mitzi) Wells of Columbus, Susan (Jim) Brittan of Gahanna and Jennifer (Dave) Garnica of Reynoldsburg. Also survived by grandchildren Sara, Marie, Ellen, Jessica, Julia (Dan), Arianne, Kelly and grandson Daniel. Family will receive friends Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 6-8 PM at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Friday, May 16, 2014 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, 5225 Refugee Rd. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
