Donna was and is a beautiful person inside and out!! I will miss her dearly. She was always there and willing to jump in and help whenever and wherever she was needed!! Good Morning Wilma, than a hug.  Good morning Butch, another hug.  That's what my day at work with Donna always began with.  It was such a happy "good Morning" you knew that Donna was there.  Terry would bring her to work early and she would go in the back and curl up and snooze for about a hour then come up and make sure that the front door was open for us at 6:30 AM.  We loved to tease her about her outfits, she was so tiny and petite, she could get away with cute stuff.  When I first met Donna she was handling the "welcome" desk at King's Kids Day Care.  She did the 6:30 to 2:00 PM shift and I did the late shift.  Donna had to take a medical leave ,  when she returned she was unable to work the longer hours so she decided to help out with the students.  She was their morning "grand mom."   She fed then breakfast, checked over homework, listened to their stories, gave them plenty of hugs.  When it came time for the kids to get on the  bus, she made sure they had hats, gloves, lunches and book bags.  She would walk them to the front door and watch as they would get on the bus.  As each child would go by,  there was always a smile, a pat on the back or a hug a "you have a great day", " don't get in trouble today,"  "see you later."
We had a crazy sweater day one Christmas, I told Donna that I didn't have a crazy sweater to wear.  She and Terry went to the Thrift shop and the next day Donna gives me a bag with a red Christmas sweater vest.  That was my Donna and Terry. She knew that I collected light houses and one day I find a wooded bird feeder light house on my desk.  That was Donna and Terry, she found it at the thrift shop.  If Donna found out you were looking for something special, it was like a mission for her, off to the thrift stores she would go until she found it for you.  No matter how debilitating the Parkinson's was to her, she pushed on and never stopped doing her job.  Several years ago, we lost our boxer and Donna and Terry were on a quest to find us another boxer.  You know they did! It took a couple of weeks, but she came to me at work one day and said do you still want a boxer?  She showed me a picture of the boxer and my heart just jumped, it looked just like the one we had lost.  She and Terry brought Tye to us that evening,  Tye jumped out of the car and went to my husband and has never left his side since.  Donna loved her babies.  Often Terry would come to pick her up and would have the babies in the car.  They were well behaved, but you could see the excitement when they would see Donna walk out of the building.  The kids at the Day Care would call Terry Mr. Fireman, cause he wore work pants that had the bright yellow hazard stripes on them.  Terry would just go along with it and smile.  He would come in and we would tell him where she was and he would go looking for her.  He carried her water, and carried her purse would walk her to the car, open the door for her.  She always looked at Terry with so much love, you could see it.  We would watch, and literally, sigh as they would drive away. 

When you see someone day in and day out, you don't think of not seeing that person until it happens.  Then you experience that void, when you walk to the front door and realize that the morning greeting is not there.  In the last couple of weeks, we have missed our Donna, oh so much.  Just the warmth  of the hug.  A warm word spoken to you.  Donna could not make coffee, she tried and we would laugh with her over her coffee, it could walk and talk.  

We don't know how to tell the kids about our loss.  Some of them have known Donna since they were babies and she rocked them to sleep or fed them their bottles.  She has watched them grow up.  She has been a teacher, grand parent, friend to many and we all are missing her.  

I'll end  with what she said each day. "Do you need anything else? Ok then, I'll see you tomorrow."  We will see you again Donna. God Bless and Thank you for being you.  Wilma & Butch Fuhr

Donna was a mighty force in a petite body. She was a great inspiration at our Delay the Disease classes. Even when she was in pain she exercised, so that she could keep moving. You are missed Donna!

Donna was one of the ray's of sunshine in our Delay the Disease class.  She will be greatly missed. Connie Williams.
