Well...Let me try to remember...my sister n i lived with Aunt Joy and all her kids. We all went to school together  with the exception of Donna,..she had a big ole boyfriend that took her to school. His name was Danny Huff. We had no where to live so my sweet Aunt Joy took us in. She took us as her own for all the time we were there. Donna would cook at times. She could cook now! Aunt Joy took sick and Donna just treated us so good it was unreal the love she had for us. She kept our clothes clean and made sure we were not hungry. All her siblings and still she loved on my sis and myself.I was just a kid so I would watch Danny pick her lil self up n take her outside to wash his classic Olds 442. Wow what a car. She would sneak around and spray Danny n then run and laugh so hard he caught her n no time. She would make sure we had our baths n i'd swear she showed no differance between Burt, Larry Allen, and myself. We all would play in that lil yard on 4th ave. and have such a great time. I wish I could see her and her family more often. With heavy heart I say I miss her dearly.She is with the one and only man she ever had in her heart. I know she is happy.Donna...I've always had you and your sisters and brothers in my heart. I miss you...

I have so many Memories that it is hard to pick just one, but one that is from just a few years ago was we were all meeting at Ding Ho for lunch and Aunt Donna had a Fender bender on the way in her car, she drove it to the restaurant and when she got there she asked if I could drive it with her to the body shop, so we got in the car and started to drive when I noticed the Air Bag light flashing and Her knowing that I have always had a fear of them deploying without warning, she said in such a calm voice don't pay any attention to the air bag light flashing, just don't hit any bumps, now mind you we were on georgesville road during all the construction not to mention the train tracks, at every bump we hit she just smiled because every bump I seemed to get further and further away from the steering wheel. I will tell you I never in all my life ever drove so slow and set so far back from the wheel. When we got there again in such a calm voice all she said was we made it. 
 I will truly treasure every memory I have of Her.

My Grandma and I have the same personality.  We love making people laugh. The way we said "I Love You" was by playing pranks on each other.  Whether it be by wrapping saran wrap on each others toilet seats or hanging "Fred the Head" from the ceiling fan.  Our personalities made us closer.  She will be greatly missed.  I can't wait to go the big Nashville in heaven with my Maw Maw!

I always remember Maw Maw putting us grandaughters before herseilf.  Wheter we needed pickd up from pracitce or needed lunchables from the store, even if her license was expired the whole time!

Donna always told me that I was her live baby doll, when mom brought me home from the hospital she took me out of mom's arm's and became my second mommy. She told me that she use to save her lunch money, so that she could buy me new outfits and that I never wore anything that was not ironed including my diaper and socks. She was more like my mom than my real mom was at times, Donna spoiled me rotten and I put her through a lot before the girls were born.  I didn't think she would have kids after me, but she had so much love inside her that she needed two more beautiful  girls to give her love to.  I believe I was and will always be Donna's first baby.  I love my nieces very much, and always will.  Love Donna's baby Girl

When I was asked to share something special about my mom…. my first thought was “What wasn’t special about her”.  Anyone who was lucky enough to have met her knows exactly what I am talking about.  She was the type of person that made a difference in someone’s life with the smallest of gestures.  From helping complete strangers to making everyone in her life feel like part of the family, she was truly a unique person.  My mom was one of the most strong willed, selfless, feisty, sweetest, caring, women I know.  She would make the best of a bad situation, overcoming whatever was in her part to prevail.  When she would get an idea in her head there was no stopping her.  I remember when I was younger, after my dad had died I came home from school one day when mom announced that she had quit her job that day and was going to go back to school to become a nurse.  Who does that??  Most people who would be placed in the situation would worry about making ends meet on one income, raising two daughters on her own, or how to put food on the table, but not mom.  She never once let Dannette and I go without when we were growing up, even if that meant her giving something up.  

The last thing anyone wants to hear is “Your just like your mother”.  I have been told this so many times, especially in the past could of weeks.  The truth is I am proud to be even a fraction of the women she was.

When I think about my sister the first word that comes to my mind is motherly. When our mother was sick or in the hospital, Donna always stepped up to care for her siblings. She would get very creative in the kitchen making treats to make us smile and feel better, such as putting marshmallows in green jello, or making us cookies that ended up being used as hard frisbee's. Donna always tried her best, but could laugh at her mistakes such as washing the chicken we were going to have for dinner in soap because mom asked her to clean it while she ran to the store. My sister had an amazing sense of humor which was one of the qualities I loved about her most. All five of us knew we could always count on her to be there no matter what till the very end. To my sister Donna, I love you with all my heart, and will miss you dearly until I see you again.

When I was asked to share something special about my mom by pastor Stotts I knew it would it be hard to narrow it down.    There were so many things about her that made her unique.   The things that drove me the craziest about her were the things that made her so original and special.  She was a very strong, stubborn, determined woman but most of all she was selfless.   For as far back as I can remember my mom would go without so that others did not have to.  I remember cleaning our pantry out to give groceries to a family in need when I was young.  I remember going to Kmart once to buy a coat and gloves and blankets for a homeless woman who was always outside of her building when she left work late at night and she left on Christmas Eve to give them to her.   One time she was worried about a former patient who had been released to a halfway house who needed shoes and underclothes and she made sure he had some.    There was even a time where she was doing home health care that she brought an elderly Alzheimers patient to our house for Christmas so she didn’t have to be alone.  She even made sure Rose had a present to open.  The poor lady couldn’t figure out who her “new” family was but mom treated her just like she was one of the family.  There was a time when Jeff and I were first married and we working so hard to make ends meet.  We came home from work one day and we had a refrigerator and pantry stocked so full of food we didn’t even know what to do.  She even restocked all of our toiletries!  This was just what she did.  One of the things that she did every single year and made sure she never missed-even after she became ill was to give a donation to Charity Newsies on the day that they were out on the street corners with their newspapers.  She would tell us the same story every single year about when she was growing up and she and her siblings would get their school clothes, shoes and winter coats from Charity Newsies and with out that they would have gone without.  She never forgot what that was like and I truly believe if she had a million dollars she would have given most of it away to others she thought needed it more.  She was the most giving person I have ever been blessed to know.   She cared so much for others.  Her family and friends were everything to her.   I am sure there are so many more stories just like this and I am certain there is not one person  that she crossed paths with that she hasn’t touched with her generosity and giving spirit.  It was her gift and I am so honored to have had a mom who set this example for us.

I have such wonderful memories of Donna when our girls cheered for the Riverbend Raiders.  She touched so many lives.  She gave me one of my first Precious Moments of a cheerleader.  It is one of my most cherished moments.  She will be missed.  Dawn and Dannette you were very blessed to have such wonderful parents.  You are in my prayers

When I think of you there are so many memories that come flooding into my mind. Over the past few years we had gotten a lot closer, had some great conversations and lots of laughs. I will cherish every single one of those moments in time for the rest of my life and always keep you in my heart. You were one of a kind and will be missed by so many people whose lives you touched.  I love you so very much Aunt Donna and always will.

She never closed her eyes in sleep
till we were all in bed.
On party nights till we came home
she often sat and read.

Until the last one had returned 
she always kept a light
For mother couldn't sleep until 
she'd kissed us all goodnight

She had to know that we were safe
before she went to rest
she seemed to fear the world might harm 
the ones she loved the best

And so it seemed that night and day
we knew a mothers care
that always when we came back home 
we'd find her waiting there

Then came the night when we were called
to gather round her bed
"The children are all with you now"
the kindley doctor said

She smiled the old familiar smile 
and prayed for God to keep
us safe from harm throughout the years
and then she went to sleep

A quick witted lady who always wore a smile, never knew a stranger, and never turned away a friend.  May you rest in peace.

Aunt Donna, you were an amazing woman! I will always treasure the time I was blessed to share with you over the years. You taught me the meaning of family & treated me like one of your own daughters. You were a huge part of my childhood & helping me to become the woman I am today. You raised two beautiful women & have 5 amazing granddaughters that will carry on your legacy & you will forever live on in our hearts. May you rest in the peace & comfort of Christ forevermore.
