Doris L. Gordon

Doris L. Gordon, age 86 of Columbus, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2010. Doris was born in Lancaster, Ohio, daughter of the late Ralph and Emma Gerken. Also preceded in death by her brother, Carl Gerken, and sister, Elsie Markwood. Doris graduated from Lancaster High School, Class of 1942. Following high school, Doris met and married her soul mate, Marvin Gordon, and the two of them started their family together and were blesses with 64 years of marriage. Doris was a very active woman throughout her life with strong Lutheran values. She volunteered with numerous charity organizations, greatly enjoyed swimming, and was a wonderful cook. Doris had a passion for animals, especially horses. She enjoyed attending the annual Quarter Horse Congress and maintained great relationships with many of the breeders and owners throughout the years. Above all, Doris was very proud of her loving family, especially her sons. She will be greatly missed by her beloved husband, Marvin Gordon; sons, Ron (Jackie) and Don Gordon; granddaughter, Kristin (Michael) Gordon-Craig; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Memorial Service will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, November 20, 2010 at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., where family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. until time of service. Burial immediately follow at Hampson Cemetery, Pleasantville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio, 500 W.
