

Dorothy Mae Olmstead Grossman, of Upper Arlington, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023. She was born February 4, 1931 in Scranton, PA to the late Elmer and Martha (Jones) Olmstead, and was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Donald G. Grossman, infant children Donna and William Grossman, brother John (Diana) Olmstead, and grandson William Hughes. She is survived by children Robin (Robert) Schuetz of Rochester Hills, MI, Nancy Hughes of Upper Arlington, OH, and Donald Keith (Hallie) Grossman of Diablo, CA. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Morgan (Pam) Hughes, Peter Hughes, Kelsey (Jordan) Byrnes and Cooper Grossman, three great-grandchildren, Hazel James Hughes, Nora Ray Hughes and Milo Donovan Byrnes, sister-in-law Jane Olmstead and niece Kristin Perdue.
She was retired as an executive secretary from American Electric Power Co. She lived in Washington D.C. from the age of 3 until her marriage in 1953. She sang on a children's radio program in Washington D.C. when she was young and was part of a dance troupe that entertained in the D.C./Virginia area. She had been a soprano soloist at Sherwood Presbyterian Church in Washington D.C., First Presbyterian Church in St. Louis, MO, Central Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, MO, and Northminster Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis, IN. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Upper Arlington, OH, where she served as a Deacon, sang in the Chancel Choir, and was a member of the Women's Association and Primetimers. She belonged to the Upper Arlington Senior Center and had served in the past as a Girl Scout Leader, as well as being a Meals On Wheels volunteer with her husband. Friends may call at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST from 4:00-6:30 on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 and a service is planned for Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 11:00 at the same location.
