

Dorothy Maxine (Brown) Habermehl, age 89 of Grove City, OH and formerly of Clarington, OH passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2010. Dorothy was born November 5, 1920 in Martins Ferry, Ohio and was a graduate of Martins Ferry High School. She moved to California and became the nanny to the former child movie star “Carolyn Lee”, whom Dorothy has always kept in close touch and has always cared for. She moved to Clarington, OH and managed M&K before marrying James Habermehl. Dorothy and James were avid supporters of the River High School, where their son, Jim, played sports, and Dorothy won “Booster of the Year Award”. Dorothy loved to collect antiques, Avon ornaments, salt & pepper shakers, and family history. She was known for baking Christmas cookies and could always be found watching ESPN or CNN (sometimes at the same time). She attended Immanuel United Church of Christ and was a member of the Golden Links in Clarington and enjoyed the time spent and friends made at Hoover House in Grove City. Dorothy enjoyed time with her grandchildren, aimed to please, and was kind-hearted. Preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Brown; husband, James F. Habermehl Sr., in 1995; sisters, Elsie Conway and Evelyn Fishow; and brother, Charles Brown. Dorothy will be missed by her loving son, Jim (Patty) Habermehl Jr.; grandchildren, Julie (Kris) Camp and Mitch (Eunice) Habermehl; 2 great-grandchildren on the way; and sisters, Lu Lopreste of Warwood, WV; Shirley (Joe) Yanchak and JoAnne Nobile, of Windsor Heights, WV; Clara (Dusty) Steele, of Lake City, SC; and Barbara Snyder of Martins Ferry. Family will receive friends Saturday, August 14, 2010 from 10:30am until the time of memorial services at 12 Noon at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 124 Shepherd Place, Clarington, OH, Rev. Gardner Curtis, officiating. Inurnment to immediately follow in Clarington Cemetery. The Golden Links will be serving a luncheon at the church immediately after the internment.
