

Dorothy Combs "Dottie" Jacob, age 79, of Upper Arlington and formerly a resident of Delaware and Powell, OH, died Saturday, March 19, 2016 following an extended illness. She was born in Ravenna, KY, on November 20, 1936, a daughter of the late Fitch and Louellen (Haddix) Combs. She began her career teaching business classes in Chicago, IL then taught in Crawfordsville IN before moving to Delaware, OH. While there, Dottie was a teacher and guidance counselor at Delaware Hayes High School. She was also a realtor in the Delaware and Powell communities. Dottie also assisted her husband Pete in the office of the family business, Continental Inks. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be sorely missed by her husband of 56 years, Pete Jacob; her sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Carolyn Jacob, Joe and Tina Jacob; her grandchildren, David, Laura, Allison, Elsa, Peter and Ellie; niece and nephews and many friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Combs and sister, Nannie Terry. Dottie received her Bachelor's degree from Eastern Kentucky University and a Master's degree from Loyola University in Chicago, IL. She was a member of Liberty Presbyterian Church.. Dottie was a gracious hostess, who put her family and friends first, especially her grandchildren. She loved to travel the world and never met a stranger when doing so. Friends may call 6-8 pm Tuesday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL 1740 Zollinger Rd. Funeral service will be held 10:30 am Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Liberty Presbyterian Church, 7080 Olentangy River Rd., Delaware. Interment to follow at Dublin Cemetery.
