Gene was born in Powell, Ohio on July 2, 1933 to the late Leslie A. and Esther D. Blaine Clements. His identical twin brother, Norm, predeceased him in April of last year. He is also predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Joyce Ann (Auckerman) Clements, and sister Donna Burris. He is survived by his son, Jerry (Kim) Clements; grandchildren Rachel (Tony) Owens and Sarah (Vinnie) Clements Olivieri; great-grandchildren Taze and Cecily Owens; brother-in-law John (Sharon) Auckerman; nieces and nephew Sheri (Terrill) Lewellen, Traci (Kevin) Longenbaker, Jennifer (Asif) Khan and David Auckerman; and close cousin Paul (Mary) Clements.
“The Twins” did everything together throughout their lives, including graduating from North High School in 1953, serving in the US Army, retiring from Western Electric with over 32 years of service, building and racing many hot rods over the years, and being members of the Telephone Pioneers and Good Guys Hot Rod Club. We take comfort in knowing that they are now reunited after being separated for the first time in their lives. The family wishes to thank Bob and Alice Garrett and Sue Ellen Williamson for their love, care and attentiveness to Gene over the past few years.
Visitation will be held at Advantage Schoedinger North (5554 Karl Road, Columbus, Ohio) on January 10 beginning at 10:30 am, with the funeral service beginning at 11:30. A private interment will be held at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Worthington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests charitable donations be made to Honor Flight Columbus (PO Box 20133, Columbus, OH 43220) in Gene’s memory.
