Douglas K. Ogden, age 70, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. Douglas was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on March 28, 1954 to Andrew and Wanda Ogden. On May 13, 2000, Douglas married the love of his life, Christine Sedlock-Mendenhall. During the 24 years they spent together, Douglas and Christine created and blended a beautiful family that Douglas loved more than life itself. He spent most of his life on the road, driving a truck for Yellow Freight before retiring from OSU. He was a proud member of Westphal Baptist Church for 24 years and he spent many of those years driving the church bus for Sunday school. If Douglas had one weakness, it would be his grandchildren. He loved spending time with his family and of course, his special feline companion, Dude. Doug served his country honorably as a member of the Marine Corps where he earned the rank of Lance Corporal and a Rifleman. Douglas was a loving husband, father, brother, grand-father, uncle, and friend. Those who knew him will remember Douglas by his entertaining stories, fun-loving nature, his big heart, and most of all the love he carried for his family. He will be missed greatly by all of those who got the chance to meet him.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Christine; his daughters Samantha Ogden and Jessica (Jay) Stroman; his step-children, Kim, Billie Thais, Rebecca (Adam) Dencer, and Jeff Mendenhall; his brother, Scott Taylor; grand-children, Jeffery (Alexis) Mendenhall, Blaine Ries, Victoria (Creed) Tackett, Nevaeh Stroman, Araya Ogden, Vance Ries, Zaden, Tre Ogden, Stacy, Brady Mendenhall, and Dane Ogden; as well as several nieces and nephews and his feline companion, Dude.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Wanda Ogden, and his brother, Mark Ogden.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America in Douglas’s honor.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, August 27, 2024, from 4-7PM at SCHOEDINGER EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5360 E. Livingston Ave, with a funeral service the following day, August 28, 2024, at Westphal Avenue Baptist Church, 780 Westphal Avenue, Whitehall, Ohio 43213, at 10AM, with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
