Duane Robert Ackerman

Duane Robert Ackerman, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2011. He was born in New Lexington, Ohio, on January 23, 1937, to the late Milford Lincoln and Mary Elizabeth (McCarty) Ackerman, and was a 1956 graduate of Chillicothe High School. Duane served in the US Navy Reserves for 12 years and held several professions throughout his working years. In 1994, he graduated from the Muskingum Area Technical College with a degree in accounting. Duane also worked as a professional clown for 14 years. He was very social and enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and he was extremely well-liked by all who had the privilege to know him.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Eugene Ackerman. He is survived by his children, Elizabeth (Daniel) Whalen and Andrew (Rebecca) Ackerman; grandchildren, Christy Young, Katelyn Ackerman, Summer Whalen, Joshua Ackerman, Alyssa Ackerman, Madison Ackerman, Kyle Saloum, and Austin Saloum; sister-in-law, Erma Ackerman; and special friend, Kathryn Manns.

Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, October 31, 2011, at the SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus, where a funeral service will begin at 7 p.m.
