

Dwight David Stuckey, 65, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017. He was born August 31, 1952 in Columbus, Ohio. He was a 1970 graduate of Whetstone H.S. He earned his B.A. in Sociology from Otterbein University and his M.S. in Clinical Counseling from the University of Dayton. David worked at the Buckeye Ranch for 39 years and most recently at the Hannah Neil Center for Children where he was developing a day treatment program. David always found the good in people and sought to foster a person’s self-worth. David was disarming and could gain your trust within minutes of meeting him. He was a complex man. Brilliant and dynamic. He was tender, caring, loyal, clever, strong, charming, and witty. He could entertain anyone. He loved reading, writing, theatre, and old movies. David was also a great cook with a specialty in chili. He was a diehard Beach Boys fan with a love, as well, of many styles of music. He was also an avid studier of hummingbirds. David was preceded in death by his brother, Darryl “Darr” Stuckey. He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Polly; children, Coleman Stuckey and Caitlin (Jon Bonomo) Stuckey; parents, Dwight and Lois Stuckey; sister, Denise (Jeff Demas) Kurz; brother, Dean (Elyse) Stuckey; and many other relatives and friends. A service celebrating his life will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123. Family will welcome friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Private inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of sending flowers, please make donations to NPR, PBS, National Society of Arts and Letters, Hannah Neil Center for Children, or any other educational fund.
