Edward L. Ballenger

Edward L. Ballenger, age 75, died Monday, June 8, 2015. Former owner of Reeb’s Restaurant, Columbus, OH; Ballenger’s Seafood Restaurant, Ft Myers, FL; and the Ballenger House, Newark, OH. Past president of Central Ohio Restaurant Association and Restaurateur of the year in Florida. Ed was Past Commodore and 57 year member of the Buckeye Lake Yacht Club where he enjoyed sailboat racing and power boating. Thirty-five year member of the Masonic Lodge. Member of Licking Valley Church of Christ and active in many civic associations. Former horseman and an avid NASCAR fan. Ed lived and loved life to the fullest! Ed is survived by Sondra his devoted and loving wife of 26 years; children, Shelley (Bob) Bishop, Edward Ballenger II, FL; step-children, Lisa Stotts, Shawn (Sherry) Dye, and Loren (Sheree) Dye, NJ; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Dye; sisters, Susie (Marty) Headlee and June (Mike) Jacobs; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Nora and Lloyd Ballenger and son, Charles Ballenger. Friends may call 3-7 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2015 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. (at Beecher Rd.) Gahanna, where the Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Pastor Gus Andrews officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
