

Edward J. “Eddie” Gleibs, Jr., age 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 27, 2012. He was preceded in death by parents Edward Sr. and Louise Gleibs, and sister Marilyn Jean Haynes. Surviving him is his loving wife of 53 years, Joan Gleibs; son Edward J. “Trace” (Olga) Gleibs; daughter Rebecca Foster; granddaughters Colleen (Brock) DeBoer, Ana Gleibs and Jennifer Gleibs; nephew Scott (Nicole) Hammond; cousins Beverly (Jerry) Trabue, Donna Hurd and Betty Huber.
Ed was a graduate of Columbus West High School, Class of 1952 where he gained a reputation of being "everyone's friend”. Following high school, he proudly served in the Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt and USS Oriskany. After returning home, he worked for Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Company (AEP) while attending Ohio State University and Franklin University. After graduating, he worked as a sales manager for Robertshaw Controls and Scientific Columbus.
In 1969, Ed decided to start his own business and founded TransData, Inc. where he was President and CEO for 36-years until his retirement in 2004. Under his leadership, TransData became a leading global supplier of solid-state electrical power & energy metering products and received a number of key patents in the US and Canada for innovative smart electric meter technologies.
Memberships and charities include: First Presbyterian Church; Masonic Lodge 783 F & AM; Shriners Hospital; The Ohio State University President's Club; Life Member OSU Alumni Association; Life Member West High Alumni Association; Salvation Army Holiday Dinner; and Buckner Children's Home and Outreach Program.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2012 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, OH 43221.
Service will be held at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 11:00 am after which internment will take place at Union Cemetery. Reverend Edward Sensenbrenner will be officiating. Masonic Service will be held 7:00 pm Friday at Northwest Chapel.
