

Edward “Ed” W. Seeger, age 89 of Columbus passed away Monday, January 4, 2021. Ed was born in German Village, Columbus, Ohio to the late Oscar and Elise Seeger and graduated from Columbus Central High School. After graduation he served in the US Army, stationed primarily in Le Havre, France. Following his discharge he attended The Ohio State University and earned his pilot’s license. Ed was originally a welder by trade and joined the Columbus Fire Department, where he served until his retirement in 1988 as Badge 1. Bored with retirement he decided to run for Franklin Township Trustee where he served for 12 years. He also farmed and raised bees for more than 50 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Barbara; and sister Dorothy Upperman. He is survived by daughters Lori Seeger, Beth (Robert) McCarty, Robin (Doug) Knaup; son David Seeger; grandchildren Courtney (Ben), Lindsey (Josh), Matthew (Bethany), Aaron, Rebecca, and Jacob; great grandsons; Logan, Elijah and Clark. Ed’s family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Schoedinger Grove City, 3920 Broadway. Private funeral service will held 10:00 a.m. Friday with Rev. James Long officiating. Interment to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
