

Born February 29, 1932 in Greenfield, Ohio, he was preceded in death by his parents, Doc (Edwin Sr,) and Ruth Emery, his late wife Colleen Greene Emery and his brother Dane Emery. He is survived by three sons; Michael Emery (and wife Donna), Edwin Emery IV and Daniel Emery and three grandchildren; Kelly, Nicole and Kyle. He dearly loved his companion of 27 years, Jo Miller, who spent time traveling with him, and was his primary caregiver through the final months of his life. Edwin Emery was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Korean War as part of Charlie Company, First Division, First Marines. He received a Purple Heart in recognition of the injuries he sustained during that conflict. After his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, the Ohio State University graduate returned to Columbus, where founded Hobby Land with his brother and operated it for many years. He was a former pilot with a love for aviation, flying private aircraft, locomotives and rail travel. Later in life he was a major contributor to reuniting Charlie Company veterans he served alongside during the Korean conflict through planning unit reunions held every two years. He was a member of Post 98 of the American Legion, 40/8, and was a 32nd- degree Mason. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 from 6-8pm at Schoedinger Hilltop Chapel, 3030 W.
