Edwin Lee Harris

Edwin Lee Harris, 78, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. He was born on December 22, 1947, in Los Angeles, CA, the son of Lester Allen and LaVerna (Harris) Harris. He graduated from Chaffey Union High School of Ontario, California, class of 1967. Edwin proudly served his country in the US Navy, serving during the Vietnam War. He married Barbara Duff on June 3rd, 2000, in The Columbus Ohio Temple, Columbus Ohio. Edwin was a High Priest at the LDS Church and was a Great-Great-grandson of Martin Harris. He had many nicknames Fast-Eddie, Alley-walker, He was known as the dog whisperer and walked his dogs 10 miles a day. Eddie was always smiling and never knew a stranger. No matter where he lived, he knew his neighbors and they knew him.

Edwin is survived by his wife, Barbara Denise; and Daughter Catherine Moore; Grandson Deonte Johnson; Sisters Ila (Don) Billings, Lyndall (Don) Hammond. Burt (Charles) Harris, Kenneth (Theresa) Harris, Numerous Nieces and Nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Lester and LaVerna; Brothers, Richard Allyn and Stephen Allyn

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 620 North Alpine Road, Rockford, IL 61107. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 10:45 AM. prior to the service. Burial will be 2:30 pm Friday, October 23, 2026 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5600 E. Broad Street, Columbus, OH. 43213.
