

Elizabeth (Betty) M. Brinson departed this life on Friday, May 14, 2010 at the age of 85 in her home in Columbus, Ohio. Betty died of natural causes and passed peacefully from this life, without suffering in her bed Friday morning. Betty was born October 19, 1924 in Belfast, Ireland to Michael and Catherine Corri. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Joseph.
Betty served our country in the Women’s Army Corps and was honorably discharged in 1945. She later met Bruce, married and gave birth to two children Laverna and Bruce, Jr.
As a mother, Betty loved her children and valued education. She taught them to read before starting school and was always active in their education, assisting with homework, and active in the PTA. Betty worked as a teacher’s aide at Hamilton Elementary School and also at the Training Institution of Central Ohio (T.I.C.O.)
As a wife and homemaker, Betty was a loving wife, excellent cook and dedicated homemaker. She took great pride in keeping a clean house and made sure that dinner was always hot and nutritious for her family. Although she worked at T.I.C.O. when her children were in high school she was primarily a homemaker throughout their pre-school, grade school and junior high school years.
Betty is survived by her husband, Bruce, Sr. and her children Laverna and Bruce, Jr., step daughter Valerie Jean and lifelong friend Helen Stapleton of Littleton, Colorado. Married for over 53 years, she will be greatly missed by her family, friends, neighbors, the Columbus Public Library and everyone who knew her. Family will receive friends, Friday, May 21 from 1-2pm with funeral service at 2pm. Internment will be at Dayton National Cemetery on Monday, May 24th.Arrangements are with Schoedinger Linden Memorial Chapel, Cleveland Avenue, Columbus Ohio 43224.
