Elizabeth Drake Livingston passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at home with her children by her side. She was known to those who loved her as Betty, Mom and Nanny. She was born in Humboldt, Kansas to Edna and Lewis Drake on October 21, 1926. She treasured her Kansas roots. Our mom was a bright lady. She graduated from Stevens College where she was a Phi Theta Kappa and was President of the campus' largest dormitory. At Kansas State University she earned a degree in psychology where she was a Phi Kappa Phi and selected to Mortar Board, a National College Senior Honor Society. She became a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and was the sorority President her senior year. Her professor thought she was better suited to excel in business. She was accepted to both Stanford University and The Ohio State University's business programs. While at The Ohio State University she met the love of her life, Al. Betty lent her considerable talents volunteering as a member of the Junior League, Beaux Arts, Women's Board of the Columbus Art Museum and Children's Mental Health Center Board. She was a 60-year member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon, Elder and Chair of Endowment Campaign. Our mom loved living life to the fullest. She thoroughly enjoyed sailing the Great Lakes with Al and their close friends. She loved adventure and traveling the world seeking to experience the unique culture each country had to offer. She was richly blessed by the companionship of many wonderful friends playing bridge, swimming or having dinner at Scioto Country Club. She taught us all about strength, style, grace and elegance. She always said she was blessed with such a wonderful family but that works both ways, we were blessed with a wonderful mother. Preceding her in death was her beloved husband of 58 years, Alan William Livingston along with her parents. She will be deeply missed by her children, Martha Livingston and Andy (Toby) Livingston and her two grandchildren, Katie and Jackie Livingston. We would like to thank her many wonderful physicians and caregivers for their care and expertise in helping Mom achieve the highest quality of life possible. A celebration of her life will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2070 Ridgecliff Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221 on Tuesday, July 18h at 4 pm. A reception will follow at Scioto Country Club, 2196 Riverside Drive, Columbus Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund. Arrangements are entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL. To share a special memory of Elizabeth, please visit our online guestbook at www.schoedinger.com
