Ellen was born in Redondo Beach, California on July 20, 1973 before moving to Hudson with her family in 1978. After graduating from Hudson High School in 1992, she continued her education, first earning a degree from The Ohio State University and then a Masters in Library and Information Science from Kent State.
After working at COSI and Audubon Ohio, Ellen, a bookworm at heart, discovered her true career passion as a librarian for Columbus Metropolitan Library. She loved her job!
She so enjoyed helping patrons, implementing new reading workshops and employee training programs, teaching technology classes and so much more to help her community.
It was at the library that Ellen met her future spouse, Ally. They were married in 2021 but Ally sadly and suddenly died in June, 2022.
In May, 2020 Ellen was struck with inflammatory breast cancer. After treatment and surgery, the cancer would reoccur the following year. She would courageously battle this terrible disease for nearly four years. She persevered with unwavering determination and positivity surrounded by her loving family, unbelievable friends, and her foster dog Blue.
Sustaining her throughout this time was her love for and talent in baking, cooking, canning, and otherwise creating in the kitchen. Her cupcakes were always a visual and culinary delight in family and social gatherings. Who knew - the pickiest childhood eater would become a foodie!
Ellen is survived by her parents, Jim and Barbara Armstrong, brother Marc (spouse Jackie) and nieces Avery and Penny.
Advantage Schoedinger North has been entrusted with private cremation.
A Celebration of Life will follow on April 28, 2024 at Highbanks Metro Park in Columbus.
