

Elton Harold Hall, age 83, of Columbus, Ohio passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010 at First Community Village in Columbus, Ohio. He was born to the late Foster and Ruth Hall in Whatcheer, Iowa on September 30, 1926. He graduated from Olney High School in Barnesville, Ohio in 1941. He then graduated from Wilmington College with a B.S. in Chemistry, received an M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemistry from The Ohio State University in 1955. He was a research chemist at Battelle Memorial Institute from 1953 until he retired in 1986. He was then employed by Staples from 2003-2007. Elton was very interested in religious studies, crossword puzzles and was a big sports fan (especially the Buckeyes). Elton was preceded in death by his wife Christine Knox who passed away in 1965. He is survived by his second wife, Virginia Hall, and daughters Carolyn McCutcheon, Indianapolis, Indiana; Janine Register, Jacksonville, Florida; Jenny Mezger, Sunrise, Florida; Beth Wolf, and Jo McCulty, Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, James McCutcheon, Kevin Mezger, Kari Mitchell, Jessica Mezger and Amy Whitman; great-grandchildren Lanie Dougherty and Addison Mezger. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 from 11am-12:30pm at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221. Reverend Reuben Mellum officiating. Interment to follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estates, Kent Mezger officiating. A celebration of his life will be held that afternoon at 3:30pm at First Community Village 1800 Riverside Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43212. Pastor Jack Witherspoon officiating.
