There will be a small family Celebration of Life Memorial for Emily Frenchie Wilson of Heath. Emily was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 4, 1927 to the late Emery French and Cleopatra (Johnson) Bailey. She returned home to the arms of the Lord on Saturday May 28, 2011. She was 83.
Emily is preceded in death by her brother Robert Etter. She leaves behind to mourn her passing her children Gwendolyn C.Hamilton, Donella Joyce Wilson, Lorei Lewis,(husband Anthony) Paul Lawrence Wilson III (wife Sandra) and Clarisse Weems-Boyd (husband James); eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, her sisters Dorothy Dale and Evelyn Peace, and her dog Missy.
After finishing high school in Berkeley, CA, she lived in Milwaukee, WI, then worked for Mattel in Compton CA. She later moved to Nashville, TN and Heath, OH. She raised her family in Compton, where she was a brownie leader, neighborhood mother to all children, was a member of the Red Hat Club, was known for her wonderful tasty spaghetti, and gave her time and resources to the Salvation Army and the Humane Society, showing her love of animals. She collected plates and coins, loved the blues, honky tonks, going on cruises to the Caribbean, and spending time with her grandchildren and her family. For many years she owned and operated Frenchie’s Beauty Supply in Compton.
In her memory, the family suggests donation be made to your local animal shelter or Salvation Army. The family would also like to express their gratitude to Rev. Recior Mae Puryear, the staff at Autumn Healthcare and Hospice of Central Ohio for their love and kindness shown to Emily in her last days. There are no calling hours. Friends may go to www.CrissSchoedinger.com to sign an online guestbook and to share a special memory.
