Emma "Maude" Prince

Emma “Maude” Prince, born November 21, 1917, in Malaga, Ohio, passed away Monday, January 11, 2010, at Willow Brook Christian Home. Maude was a proud and dedicated member of Northland Church of Christ where she taught four-year olds in Sunday School for over 35 years. She graduated as valedictorian from Beallsville High School and had great pride for placing first in American History in Monroe County, third in 17 counties and sixth in the state of Ohio. After graduation she received her Cosmetology degree and worked for several beauty salons. During WWII she worked for the war effort at Timkin Roller Bearing Company. After the war she married the love of her life, Eugene L. Prince. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother. After her children were raised, Maude went to work for the Lazarus Department Stores and retired after 24 years of service from Macy’s. She was a passionate croquet and board game player, especially enjoying Scrabble. Maude enjoyed watching sports; above all watching basketball with her grandchildren. She had an incredible sense of learning which included reciting poetry. Maude is preceded in death by her husband of 52 ½ years, Eugene. She is survived by loving daughters, Janet (Larry) Harris and Jill (Randy) Yates; grandchildren, Benjamin (Christina Barry), Rebecca and Stephen Harris, Sarah (Jason) Wing, David, Rachael, Bethany and Daniel Hudson, Ashley Proctor and Kristin Yates; great-grandchildren, Isaac, Thomas and Juliann; along with several nieces and nephews. Maude adored animals and leaves behind beloved cats, Bebe, Grabeaux and Maggie. Family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road where a funeral service will be held, 9:30am, Saturday, January 16, 2010.
