

Enus Anthony Burigana of Worthington passed away peacefully of natural causes early in the morning of May 22nd, just a few weeks short of his 93rd birthday. He was born on June 13, 1928 in Scranton Pennsylvania to Guerino and Veneranda Burigana. He was a stellar student and star athlete at William Penn High School in Harrisburg Pa. where he met his life partner, Geraldine Christmas. They married while he was in college at Bucknell University where he continued his academic and athletic endeavors earning awards in each. Their truly committed, loving marriage lasted for more than 70 years until Gerry's death in 2018. After graduating he began a career with Nationwide Insurance (then called Farm Bureau Insurance) lasting over 40 years. His time with Nationwide included building and managing major corporate divisions attaining the position of Senior Vice President over Reinsurance, Excess and Surplus Lines and International Operations (which he originated). He also briefly served as senior executive over National Accounts. His duties included national and international travel, often accompanied by Geraldine and service on boards of major companies affiliated with the Nationwide Enterprise in the US and abroad. Aided by his multilingual talents he cultivated a host of professional relationships, many of which led to close personal friendships lasting well into his retirement years, some for the remainder of his life. His near scratch golfing abilities. bridge playing and other social engagements brought additional lifelong friends into this close-knit group. Despite his busy professional and social life Enus's deepest commitment and greatest source of pleasure and pride was his family.
He is survived by his brother Edward (Julie) Burigana of Harrisburg, PA; son Steve (Gail) Burigana of Grandview Hts.; daughter Barbara (Shawn) Sentz of Dublin; daughter Nancy (Michael) Stoia of Sugarland,Texas; Grandchildren Steve (Stacie) Burigana, Nicole Burigana, Colleen (Kyle) Hickman, Chris (Alison) Sentz, Michael (Brittinay) Sentz, Patrick (Lauren) Stoia, Katie Sentz, Alex Stoia; and Great Grandchildren Hannah, Deveric, Mason, William and Victoria.
He will be reunited with Geraldine in a private family ceremony at a later date with arrangements by Schoedinger Worthington Chapel.
