

Eric V Stranman, 63, died unexpectedly in his home Saturday November 20, 2010. He was born April 26, 1947 in Ashtabula Ohio to Clarence and Nellie Stranman. Eric owned and operated Olson's Bakery in Ashtabula Ohio with his wife Linda Stranman for 31 years. They moved to Columbus Ohio to be with their daughter Erika Gulcur and her son Emre, enjoying time daily with his grandson. He was an avid sailor and a member of the Ashtabula Yacht Club. For years, running was also a passion of Eric's, having completed two marathons and many other long races. Eric was a true "foodie" and was a very knowledgable and proficient cook and collector of cookbooks. He was also a passionate reader and a particular fan of Elmore Leonard. Eric was a veteran of the Vietnam War and received the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with Three Bronze Service Stars and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He is survived by his wife Linda of 42 years, daughters Kerry Stranman and Erika Gulcur, his grandson Emre Gulcur, brother Neil Stranman and cousin Ed Hartshorn.
