It is with profound sadness that the family of Erik James Long announces his passing in the early hours of Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25, 2021, at 24 years of age. He passed peacefully in his home with his family near. Erik is survived by his parents Gayle (née Beam) and John Long; paternal grandparents, Paul and Judy Long; sisters Emily (Matthew) Warner, Kristin and Caroline; and special cousin, Lexie Long.
Erik was raised in Upper Arlington, Ohio. Growing up, Erik loved being outside in nature (especially at his family's cabin in Hide-Away-Hills). He enjoyed playing ice hockey and treasured the time he spent at Indian Village in Columbus, as a camper, a counselor, and, in recent years, a hiker. Erik was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. He graduated from Upper Arlington High school in 2015 and he valued the time he spent in the marching band and the many friendships he made there. Erik also attended Ohio Wesleyan University.
Family and friends will always cherish Erik's intelligence, energy, creativity, curiosity, and his irrepressible sense of humor. A private memorial service was held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday, December 2, 2021.
