He was born to parents Frank and Doris White, on June 28, 1958, in Burlington, NC. Errol graduated from Durham High School in 1976 and went on to serve in the United States Army where he earned and retired with the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He engaged in many deployments including 4 tours in Desert Shield, Iraq, Haiti, and Afghanistan, and was decorated with 2 Bronze Star Medals, 3 Meritorious Service Medals, a Joint Service Commendation Medal, and received many other numerous achievements and awards during his 43 years of service. Errol also worked and retired as a Construction Coordinator II after spending more than 35 years at Spectrum in Columbus, Ohio.
Errol was known for his kindness, charismatic personality, and was a one-of-a-kind human being. He lit up every room he walked into and was most certainly the life of the party. He loved taking long cruises on his Harley, fishing with friends, and was hands down the best cook. His friends, family, and comrades can attest to him smoking ribs for several hours at the VFW Post 4719 or making a rum cake for the bartenders at The Pub and Average Joe’s. After he retired from his service in the United States Army and Spectrum, Errol relocated to Cape Coral, Florida where he created many friendships at Hurricanes, attended his version of Sunday Service at the Boathouse, which included mimosas, a nice breakfast, and a beautiful beach view with his friends. He truly lived his best life every day when he embarked on this new chapter of his life. Gone way too soon and will never be forgotten.
Errol is survived by his former spouse, Sheila White of Columbus, OH; his son, Errol Jeffrey White II of Columbus, OH; his daughter, Lauren Paige White of Columbus, OH; his mother, Doris Lee Sanford of Tucson, AZ (Arthur); his brothers, Frank White of Silver Springs, MD (Brenda) and Daryl White of Raleigh, NC (Linda); and a host of many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, as well as cousins and friends. Errol was predeceased by his father Frank White, maternal grandparents Finley and Ruth Parker, and paternal grandparents James and Hattie White.
The visitation will be held on Sunday, September 19th, 2021 from 2 PM - 3 PM followed by a time of sharing and military honors from 3 PM - 4 PM at Schoedinger Funeral Service, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd.; Gahanna, OH 43230. Per Errol’s wishes, cremation will take place following the service.
