She leaves her grieving husband of 67 years, Ed Sterling. They have not been separated since he returned from WWII. As Parkinson’s disease and dementia gradually tore her from a conscious life, she and Ed moved to Sunrise of Worthington, OH, to be near their immediate family. Eva was most proud of her two children; Ron (Bonnie) Sterling, Teri (Don) deMars three grandchildren: Mollie (Tom) Lynch, Lucas Miller, Josh (Kathleen) Sterling; and three great-grandchildren (Mary Katherine & Colleen Erin Lynch, & Caroline Mei-Li Sterling).
Eva was born and raised in W. VA. She and Ed moved to Canton in 1948 leaving behind their family and friends to start a new life. Eva worked as the bookkeeper for Sterling Sohio Service, Ed’s business. After retirement, she and Ed would be found traveling throughout the U.S. in their Airstream trailer. Eva always looked forward to returning to her home in Canton as she was active in many organizations.
She loved her church community at First Friends Church, became Worthy Matron of her Eastern Star Chapter, a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and active in the Canton Woman’s Club.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Schoedinger Funeral & Cremation Service of Columbus (Schoedinger.com). Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the Memorial celebration of her life at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2013 at First Friends Church 5455 Market AV N. In lieu of flowers Mom would have preferred for family & friends to make a donation to a charity of their choice.
The family would also like to thank the staff at Canton Regency and Sunrise of Worthington for their compassionate care in Mom’s final year.
