

Evelyn May Henderson, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 30, 2017. She was born on March 9, 1928 in Columbus, OH to the late Donald A. and Irene E. (Jones) Goins. Evelyn graduated from South High School, attended The Ohio State University, was the first African American anchor for WBNS TV, worked at Urban Renewal, a writer for Reader's Digest, sung with Nancy Wilson and the Rusty Bryant Band, a police woman, and a member of Second Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman C. Henderson. Survived by son, Rev. Dr. Deylyne B. (Tonya) McCampbell and grandchildren, Christina (Joe) Dunlap Jr., Deylyne (Darcey) McCampbell Jr., Christopher David McCampbell, Jayson McCampbell and Crystal McCampbell; son, Mark C. Henderson and grandchildren, Mark and Aaliyah Henderson; daughter, Angela (Rudolph) Smith and grandchildren, Lydell, Alycia (Autumn) and Alayna Smith; several great grandchildren. Nephews, Wayne (Julie) Goings, Tony Goings, Nieces, Becky Jo, Judy Harris, Irene (Michael) Burton, Terri Goings, Terri (David) Woode, Dana Goings, Toria Brown. Funeral service will be held 9:30 am Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Vineyard Columbus, 6000 Cooper Rd. Westerville, OH 43081 with Pastor Charles Montgomery officiating. Friends may call 9:00 am. Interment will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Schoedinger East Chapel.
