

Ned Joy passed away peacefully on October 17, 2018, following a valiant battle with cancer. He was born May 21, 1929 in New Cumberland, W. Va. to the late Everard John and Cora Hartley Shepherd Joy. He graduated high school in Toronto, Ohio and attended West Liberty University in W. Va. Ned worked most of his years in retail management, including 32 years with D.M. Ogilvie and Company of East Liverpool, Ohio. In addition to his parents, Ned was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Joy, and two sisters: Ruth Heaton, and Hope Tindall. Also predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Joan Piatt Joy. Ned lived for many years in Wellsville, Ohio, where he and Joan raised their daughters and were active in the community. Ned is survived by his current wife, the former Kathryn Boggs, of Columbus, and her family. Also surviving are his four daughters: Suzann (Scott) Glover of Duncansville, PA; Nancy (Brendon) MacKenzie of Pataskala, OH; Marianne (Jeff) Thompson of Ashville, OH; and Karin (Peter) Wells of South Bloomfield, OH. Seven grandchildren: Jessica, Marcus, Krystin, Jordan, Laina, Gabriel, and Lauren, and three (and 2/3) great-grandchildren survive to mourn the grandfather they all adored.
