

Ferdinand “Fritz” Charles Arens III, passed away January 19th 2017. He was born September 18, 1937, in New York City to the late Ferdinand C. Arens Jr. and Margaret Port Arens. Was baptized on June 15, 1956 at Wellesley Congregational Church in Wellesley, Massachusetts. He graduated from Wellesley High School in 1955, lettering in football, basketball, and baseball. He was a member of the National Honorary Society. Graduated from Dartmouth College in 1959 with a B.A. in Chemistry. He lettered four years in soccer, was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and Sphinx Senior Honorary society. He graduated from Naval OCS, Newport, R.I., November 1959: commissioned Ensign. Served as “A” division officer on USS Compass Island in 1960. Served as Assistant Material Officer, Squadron Navigator and Ship to Shore Officer on Amphibious Squadron Four Staff, Little Creek, VA 1961-1962. Released from active duty in November of 1962 as LTJG. Employed by V. Mueller selling surgical instruments and operating room equipment from 1963 until retirement in 1996. Salesman of the year in 1982. Fritz loved to vacation in Las Vegas, Captiva Island, FL and at the family home in Chatham, MA. He was an avid sports fan, and especially loved his New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. He was also a season ticket holder for the Columbus Blue Jackets since their inaugural season. He is survived by loving wife of 51 years, Carol Sue: children: Ferdinand Charles (Marcia) Arens the IV of Dublin, OH, Suzanne (Ted) Flinn of Greenwich, CT, Corrine (Tim) Dimond of Dublin, OH, and Ryan (Erin) Arens of Dublin, OH. Grandchildren: Brody, Brandon, and Brianna Arens, Teddy and Jimmy Flinn, Bridget and A.J. Dimond, and Gavin and Olivia Arens. The Family would like to express our gratitude to the Ohio Health Hospice and the exceptional nursing staff at The Kobacker House. Family will receive friends 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Friday, January 27, 2017 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221. Mass of Christian of Burial will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, January 28, 2016 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1899 McCoy Road, Columbus, Ohio 43220.
