Florence Irene Henry was born in Saint Louis, MO on December 1, 1920 to Perry and Mary Brewer of 2813 Magnolia Avenue. Her father was a barber and she was the third born. She had three brothers and two sisters. She completed 11 years of grade school. She joined the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood Convent in June of 1938 and as a novice she received the name Sr. Mary Hubert but she left just prior to taking her vows in 1942. She joined the Women's Army Core (WACS) in September of 1944 and was honorably discharged in August of 1946. During that period, she worked for the Military Intelligence Division of the War Department from November 1944 to September 1945 as a Tabulating Machine Operator. While in the military, she met Jack Henry and they got married and moved to his hometown of Columbus, OH. She worked for The Columbus Board of Education until she had her first son, Michael, in June of 1951. She became a housewife/mother and had a second son, Daniel, in 1956 and a third son, Mark, in 1963. After the arrival of Mark, she divorced in 1964 and went to work for ODOT as a key punch operator and continually had over one million strokes per month. She retired from ODOT in 1985 after turning 65 and receiving her 25 years of service award. She then worked part time for them for another 10 years. Mom never drove so she took the bus to work every day until one of us could take her and pick her up. She was a member of St. Agnes Church from 1956 until moving to Grove City in 2006 when she became a member of OLPH. While at St. Agnes, she had always wanted to be a teacher and in 1973 she got the chance to minister young children in the CCD program there. She continued with this program until 2003. She became a member of the Sisters of Notre Dame in 1998 and really enjoyed meeting with all of them. Many will miss her. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and all her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Dottie Brewer of St. Louis, her sons, Michael ( Robin) Henry, Daniel (Emilie) Henry, and Mark (Joanna) Henry; grandchildren, Paul Henry, Laura (James) Hoover, Joseph (Amber) Henry, Nicholas Henry, great-grandchildren, Dillon Hoover, Charlotte Henry, Gabriella Henry, Benjamin Henry, Dallas Hoover, Avery Henry and soon to be Dalton Hoover due January 26th.
