

A funeral service for Forrest Leland Hatfield, 92 of Newark, will be held on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery with the Licking County Veterans Alliance providing military honors.
Forrest was born in Columbus, Ohio on June 1, 1918 to the late Forrest William and Bertha (Burr) Hatfield. He passed away at his residence on March 17, 2011 while surrounded by his family.
Forrest was a trackman for the B & O Railroad prior to retirement. He was also a concessionaire for many years traveling around the country with his son Glenn. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1060 and Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Gloria (Womack) Hatfield, whom he married on November 14, 1944; children, Gloria Hughes of Ft. Myers, FL, Kathy (Harry) Burton of Newark, Glenn (Tina) Hatfield of Camden, OH, Patricia (Rusty) Hatten of Newark and Mary Jo (Frank) Parkinson of Hebron; grandchildren, Wende, Mende, Jessie, James, Justin, Cy, Tecumseh, Cole, Victor, Toby and Brittany; 15 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Mildred Lamson; granddaughter, Andrea Hughes Kirschner; and sons-in-law, Larry Hughes and James Morrow.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark on Sunday from 5:00-8:00 PM.
