
Francis J. “Frank” Gattas, 80 of Columbus, loving husband, proud father and grandfather passed away Tuesday October 27, 2009. Frank was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Groveport, a Korean War Veteran and member of VFW Post #9473. He dedicated his life to the advancement of the deaf community and people with disabilities, and was instrumental in the development of numerous organizations and programs to that cause including the Solidarity Conference for people with disabilities and the Ohio Deafness and Rehabilitation Association among others. Frank retired after 40 years of public service working primarily with the Rehabilitation Services Commission of Ohio. He is survived by his loving wife, Connie; children, Frank (Joyce Castorano) Gattas, Michael (Diane) Gattas and Andrea (Brad) Gintert; grandchildren, SPC Frankie, Jennifer, Katheryn and Jonathan Gattas, Thomas, Adam and Lilly Gintert. A mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00am Monday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church 10700 Liberty Rd. Powell, OH. Fr. Raymond Larussa celebrant. Friends may call Sunday 4-7pm at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL 6699 N. High Street (1/2 mile south of 270) where a prayer service will be held Sunday 4:00pm.
