

Rev. Francis "Frank" X. McDevitt, age 84, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017 in Columbus, Ohio. He was born June 5, 1932 to the late, William A. and Anna M. (Henke) McDevitt in Reading, PA. Frank was a proud US Air Force veteran where he served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War before he retired after 20 years of service. His life revolved around his wife Joan, the love of his life and their 5 children. He enjoyed traveling with his family to the beach and grilling out for his family and friends. He was a devout Catholic and retired from St. Elizabeth Catholic Church after almost 40 years of serving as a Deacon with many churches. Frank took pride in his devotion to the Lord as a volunteer in serving the Sacrament to the sick in hospitals around central Ohio. He also presided in the marriage of his children and the baptism of almost all his grandchildren. Frank was a talented musician who loved to play the organ and the accordion. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Joan C. (Sylva) McDevitt; son, Edwin McDevitt and 8 siblings. He is survived by children, Gregory (Julia) McDevitt, Christine (Jim) Smits, Kevin (Cheryl) McDevitt and Michael (Amber) McDevitt; beloved grandchildren, Holly (Bobby) Hagen, Erin (Brad) Sibley, Aimee (Jarrod) Maille, Adam (Meggie), Eric (Emily) and Michael Smits, Megan (Stephen) Drakes, Emily, Kelli, Rhiannon, Michael and Kaitlyn McDevitt; great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Elena Sibley and Sheldon and Sullivan Drakes; sister, Mary (Jack) Carroll; brother-in-law, Raymond Sylva; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m., Monday, February 20, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 6077 Sharon Woods Blvd., Columbus, OH 43229 where family will receive friends from 9:30-11 a.m. Fr. Charles Cotton, Celebrant, Fr. Ramon Owera Con-Celebrant. Interment to follow the Mass at Kingwood Memorial Park at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Arrangements entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road.
