company of his family on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 after an extended illness.
He was born in Piqua, Ohio on July 7, 1936 to the late Columbus attorney, Frank J. Cipriano,
Sr. and Amelia (Gentile). He is survived by his wife, Kay (Argust); his children, Caryn (Randy)
Blauser, Julie (Craig) Douglas, and Christopher (Gretchen) Cipriano; grandchildren Mark
(Christa) Parisi, Michelle Parisi, Nicole Douglas, Alex Douglas, Jillian Blauser, Ryan Blauser,
Nicolas Cipriano, and Adam Cipriano; great-grandchildren, Carter and Charlotte Parisi; as well
as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Angelo
Cipriano, Marie (Cipriano) Ort, and Ronald Cipriano.
Frank grew up in Upper Arlington, Ohio and graduated in 1954 from Upper Arlington High
School. He graduated in 1959 with a Marketing degree from The Ohio State University. He
served as a medic in the National Guard. He met his beloved wife Kay (Argust) while both were
working at Lazarus Department Store in downtown Columbus, and they were married on July
29, 1961.
A well-known figure in Central Ohio Real Estate circles, Frank began his career developing and
selling bars and restaurants, before meeting his mentors and future partners, Earl Sisson and
Seyman Stern, who educated him in land development. Frank was considered a visionary in his
field, and later founded Land Network, a real estate development company which emphasized
providing affordable housing options for the Central Ohio market.
Frank was a generous and enterprising person who liked to help others and shape his
community. He sponsored numerous disadvantaged scholars in college, and helped many
young professionals further their careers. He was a staunch supporter of the Mid-Ohio Food
Bank and routinely "adopted" classrooms in struggling schools. He enjoyed being involved in
local politics and served on numerous boards, including the Columbus Regional Airport
Authority and Central Ohio Transit Authority. His social circle was wide, and he took great
pleasure in meeting and connecting people with diverse interests. He could often be spotted at
Table 20 at Lindey's, chatting with his many friends and business associates as they passed.
