

Frederick W. Ziegler, age 94, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024. Born September 13 1930. Son of the late Florian “Zieg” and Eva Ziegler. Brother of the late John (Linda) Ziegler. Father of Fritz (Martine) Ziegler, Michael Ziegler, and Stephen Ziegler. Grandchildren Maxwell Ziegler, Samantha (Colin) Laviola, Zoe Ziegler, Tessa Ziegler, and Ian Ziegler. Great grandchild Halston Laviola. Many nieces and nephews.
Attended St. Charles High School and graduated from the Columbus Academy in 1948. Attended and graduated in 1952 from Colby College in Waterville, Maine where he was a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Upon graduating, he served in the U.S. Army in the 2nd Amphibious Brigade in Korea and Japan during the Korean War.
Upon his return, he met and married his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Sugar Ziegler. He joined his father and brother in the family business “Buckeye Printing and Mailing” where he worked for 56 years.
He actively worked with the Prevent Blindness Ohio organization from 1958 serving as Chair of the Board of Directors in 1979, and until he retired as President in 1981. He was also a member of the Columbus Rotary Club for over forty years.
Fritz was an active member of the Columbus Country Club from 1964 until 2013 where he was the worst tennis player in the Tuesday night men’s tennis group. He also was a member of Rocky Fork Hunt and Country Club, the Athletic Club of Columbus, and the Columbus Club.
The joys of his life were when he spent many summers at Kelleys Island with family and friends while chasing “smallmouth bass,” winters in Florida enjoying the “cocktail hour” in Bal Harbour, and the many days at Gulfstream Race Track with friends at the “Round Table Stable” area trying to make a living.
Visitation will be held from 4:30-6:30 PM, 2024 on Monday, December 9, 2024 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 1559 Roxbury Road, Columbus, Ohio 43212. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, Ohio.
