

Frederick V. White, Sr. died peacefully early Sunday, July 19, 2015. Born June 14, 1925 in Columbus, Ohio, he was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Helen, as well as his brother Wade, sister Catherine and nephew David. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, E. Louise, son Fred, known as Fritz, (Julie) of Cincinnati, Ohio, daughters Pam (Terry) of Niles, Michigan, Kate of Lewis Center and Beth (David) of Anchorage, Alaska, 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Fred served in the U.S. Navy submarine service (1943-46) between high school and college, and then spent his career as an optician and proprietor of the Fred R White Optical Company in Columbus. Fred was a 50 year member of the Northland (Linden) Kiwanis Club and a longtime member and adult Sunday School teacher of Glen Echo United Presbyterian Church in Columbus. He was formerly active in the Delaware County and state of Ohio 4-H Programs, served on the Orange Township zoning board, the Delaware County School Board and was active in numerous civic organizations. The family will be receiving friends on Friday, July 24 from 6-8pm and Saturday, July 25 from 11am to 1pm at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 North High Street. A funeral service will follow at 1pm with Reverend Lee Platt officiating. Burial will follow at Kingwood Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Glen Echo United Presbyterian Church, 220 Cliffside Drive, Columbus, Ohio, 43202 or to Nationwide Children's Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.
