

Frieda Magdalene Meuser Chappelle passed away on Sunday, December 21, at Sunrise of Worthington, at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years Jack Louis Chappelle and by a brother, Luther Henry. She is survived by children Terry Chappelle of Sacramento, CA, Dean Chappelle (Teresa) of Gahanna, Mary Ellen Gramly (Charles) of Carroll, and Gail Smith (Dallas) of Grandview Heights, as well as eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, Frederick (Jeanne), Martin (Betty), and Paul Meuser, and three sisters, Anne Books, Lorena Fackler, and Alice Disbro. Frieda was born in Oak Harbor, Ohio in 1919 to Rev. and Mrs. H. W. Meuser, and grew up in Pigeon, Michigan in a family that eventually included eight children. She attended Capital University, graduating in 1941 with a degree in music education. She taught in Bowersville, Ohio, before taking a war-time job at Wright Field in Dayton as an engineer's assistant. After the war, she and Jack were married and raised their family in Dayton, where Frieda served at various times as Girl Scout leader, church choir director, and private piano teacher. Frieda returned to public school teaching in the early 1960's in the Mad River Township Schools, retiring in 1982. Frieda and Jack eventually moved to Reynoldsburg, at which time she worked as a volunteer and as a clerk in the records department at Mt. Carmel East Hospital, and was very active with Reynoldsburg Senior Citizens. Frieda was also an active member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she was a long-time member of the vocal choir, the hand-bell choir, and Women's Circle. She is much loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends. Friends may call on Sunday December 28, 2014 from 2:00PM-5:00PM at the SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 East Livingston Avenue, Columbus, Ohio. Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 10:00AM at Faith Lutheran Church, 730 Collingwood Avenue, Whitehall, Ohio. Pastor Eric Moehring officiating. Entombment will follow at Arlington Field of Honor, Canal Winchester, Ohio. Contributions in Frieda's memory may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
