

Gale Burritt Hagerty, 61, passed away peacefully at Kobacker House hospice on Thursday, December 7, 2017. He was born August 4, 1956 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Tom and Dorothy (Vanwinkle) Hagerty. He attended Powell and Olentangy schools and later graduated from Kenston High School, Geauga County in 1974. Gale was a proud 4 year U.S. Army veteran and served in the National Guard for 6 years. His faith was very important to him. He loved to spend time with others. Gale studied Interpersonal Relationships at OSU and graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree, then studied progressive ministry and theology at Lexington Theological Seminary and interpersonal communication at The Ohio State University. He was very witty. His favorite color was purple. He enjoyed playing guitar and listening to Oldies rock and big band music. He was a great cook. A history buff and loved historical trivia. He spent many hours on the computer connecting with others through Facebook. He was responsible for starting 2 growing Facebook groups called "Christians Against Islamophobia" and "Gale's Growing Up in Central Ohio (1950s-1970s)". In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Telem in Israel. He is survived by his wife, Janet (Hrabak) Hagerty; sister, Beth (Joel) Hagerty-Dyckes; brother, Lloyd (Cheryl) Hagerty; brothers-in-law, Paul (Bev) Hrabak, Mark (Ursula) Hrabak, and Tom (Judy) Hrabak; adoring cat, Chipper; and many other relatives and friends. A memorial service celebrating Gale's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Northwest Christian Church, 1340 Fishinger Road, Columbus, where the family will receive friends an hour before the service. Please wear purple. Private committal will be held at a later date.
