Gary was part of the original Muffins Vintage Base ball team. My memories include Gary playing 3rd baseball and at one of our team banquets being our MVP for the year. He was an enthusiastic player but I also think of him as a great dad. I remember him coming to most games, walking across the Muffin Meadow, with his 3 young sons following him at their own speeds.   I think he was giving his wonderful wife Heather a break. The whole family was always full of smiles and fun. 

I also had the great fun of celebrating his retirement from the historical society and getting to create the theme of his staff farewell party. I chose the foods of Ohio because of the stories I heard of his travels to sites and communities and the foods he discovered along the way. I remember my car smelling like Krispy Kreme donuts for several days because of the party’s donut tower. 

Gary provided great leadership during difficult funding times. I learned so much from his leadership. I hope his family knows of his impact to the Historical Society but more importantly has the  Muffin memories to comfort them in this difficult time.
