

Gayle Dean Petrick, passed away with his family on May 29, 2017 in Grove City, OH. Gayle was 88 years old and is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary Elizabeth Petrick. Gayle is preceded in death by his parents Edward W. and Anna B. Petrick and his brothers, Edward N. and Robert D. Petrick. He is survived by his children Stewart (Kathy), Bruce, and Peg (Mark) Pennington and five grandchildren. Gayle graduated from Port Huron High School, Port Huron, MI and Michigan Technological University with a degree in Chemical Engineering and Engineering Administration. Gayle was a Korean War Veteran having served in the US Army Chemical Corps. Gayle retired from Diamond Crystal Salt Company in 1995 after a 41 year career where he served in various management positions including plant manager of the Jefferson Island Salt Mine in New Iberia, LA., and director of engineering in Clarks Summit PA for Akzo Nobel (formally Diamond Crystal Salt Company). A licensed professional engineer, Gayle served as President of Solution Mining Research Institute and was on the Board of Directors of Underground Injection Practices Council. Gayle retired in Englewood, Florida where he enjoyed watching baseball and travel. Gayle was a life-long member of the Masons and a blood donor. A memorial service will be held 2 pm Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123 where visitation will begin at 1 pm.
