Geoffrey Kenneth Eriksen, age 89, passed away Monday, February 17 at Harmony Trace Assisted Living in Hilliard, Ohio. He was born January 21, 1936, in Akron, Ohio to the late Arthur and Marguerite Eriksen. Jeff graduated from Newark High School and received a bachelor’s degree in Commercial Art from The Ohio State University. He served in the Army National Guard before embarking on a career as Art Director and Photo Studio Director with the Lazarus Advertising Department. He also went on to work as the Advertising Director for Sports Imports, Inc.
Jeff was a true gentleman who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life; daily exercise, reading mysteries and war-time novels, gardening from dusk until dawn and spending summer evenings on his back porch with a cigar listening to the Detroit Tigers on WJR radio. He was also the host of a weekly gathering that came to be known as “the Breakfast Club,” which included a group of Upper Arlington men that met for coffee and donuts on Saturday mornings at Jeff’s house on Wellesley Drive for over 35 years to debate, banter, laugh and share opinions on the latest sports, politics and community news. He truly loved those Saturday mornings. Jeff had a sly, sarcastic sense of humor and his witty one-liners kept those around him laughing, including his grandchildren. His gentle nature will be missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons Hans (Christy) of Springfield, Ohio and Kip (Trisha) of Upper Arlington, Ohio and grandchildren Hayden, Katie (Jake), Tucker, Wade, Miles, Luke and Ruthie. He also leaves behind his former wife Joy Cooper.
He is preceded in death by his brother Stanley.
Private family services will be held.
