George J. Karl

George J. Karl, Jr., age 83, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Select Specialty Hospital. George was born in Columbus, OH on March 19, 1928 to the late George J. and Mary (Michaels) Karl, Sr. He graduated from Aquinas Catholic Boys High School. George entered the US Army in 1947 and proudly served our country in WWII. He is a lifetime member of American Legion Don Gentile Post #532 and Am Vets #1928. George was a member of the VFW Post #4044. He retired from United Refrigeration as a repairman. In his leisure time he enjoyed the activities at the legion, golfing and watching football. Preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Joan Robertson. Survived by his wife, Glenda; children, George J. (Sandy) Karl IV and Toni-Lynn (John) Howell; numerous step-children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; other relatives and longtime friends, Bill McCarrick and Donald Dennis. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Wednesday at SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad Street, where funeral service will be held at 11:30 am, Thursday, September 8, 2011 with Brother David Swaggerty officiating. Interment Sunset Cemetery.
