George S. Wilburn, age 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at his home. He was born December 29, 1924 to the late Emerson and Gertrude Wilburn in Trimble, Ohio. He was a graduate of Central High School and from The Ohio State University where he received his bachelor's degree in accounting. George was an Army veteran of WWII where he served in the European Theater and in the South Pacific. He retired after 40 years of dedicated service as an accountant with Kroger's. George was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a lifelong Buckeye fan, a talented fast pitch softball pitcher, golfer and euchre player. George also enjoyed traveling with his family and friends. He was a charter member of Karl Road Christian Church for 37 years. Along with his parents, George is preceded in death by his son, Douglas and brother, Rev. Richard Wilburn. He is survived by loving wife of 66 years, Barbara (Ely) Wilburn; children, David (Sarah), Denny, Sandy (Kendal) Nagy and Cheryl (Tom) Mitchell; grandchildren, Solomon (Maya) Wilburn, Kyle (Katie) and Dr. Adam (Kelly) Nagy, Ryan (Jenny) Mitchell, Kelly (Tyler) Hampton and Lisa (Scott) Radcliff; sister, Barbara (Dr. Malcolm) Wynn. Family will receive friends Friday, March 17, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Karl Road Christian Church, 5400 Karl Road, where family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Karl Road Christian Church or OhioHealth Hospice.
