

Gerald L. “Gary” Hiller, age 96, passed away on March 2, 2015. He was preceded in death by parents Bert and Blanche Hiller; brother Ernest Hiller; and sister Mary Irene Darnell; grandson Brendan Ludwig; son in law Leo Szary. Gerald leaves two sons: Michael and his daughter Ashley; Robert Patrick, his wife Devra, and their children Jonathan, Patrick, Erin; and great grandson Jack Gerald is survived by loving wife Roselyn; her children Corina (John) Ludwig of Novi, Michigan, their son Matthew; Marina Szary of Jacksonville, Florida, and her children Jason and Megan (Eric) Redding, and great granddaughter Emma Redding; Dr. Theodore (Dr. Suzanne Newcomb) Kessis of Columbus, Ohio and their children Holly, Alex and Tyler.
Gerald was born and raised in New Lexington, Ohio and spent his adult life in Columbus, Ohio. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater of Operations, receiving several battle citations. He attended The Ohio State University and went on to become Security-Treasurer and General Manager of United Produces, Inc., for over thirty years. Under his guidance, the company became of the largest livestock marketing cooperatives in the nation. During his career years, he served many high positions on the boards of state and national trade organizations.
He also served for many years as a board director of P&C Family Foods in Syracuse, New York and of Central Benefits Mutual Insurance Co. (Blue Cross and Blue Shield) of Columbus, Ohio.
Gerald was a member of the Overbrook Presbyterian Church, the Alumni Club and Presidents Club of The Ohio State University, and the Rotary Club of Columbus, Ohio.
Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Thursday at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Rd. in Upper Arlington, where his Funeral Service will be held at 10am, Friday, March 6, 2015. Interment to follow at Union Cemetery.
