Gerald "Sonny" E. Howard Sr.

Gerald “Sonny” E. Howard, age 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. Sonny was born on February 20, 1940 in Lucasville, Ohio to the late Loren and Irene (Phipps) Howard.

In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by his wife, Judi Howard; daughter, Wanda Baldwin and son, Bret Howard and eight siblings. He is survived by son, Gerald (Debbie) Howard, Jr.; daughter, Lora (Eric) Giddings; grandchildren, Allyson Baldwin, Cale (Kristin) Giddings, Alex Baldwin, Brooke Baldwin and her fiancé, Nick Steiner, Logan Giddings and his fiancée, Kate Krieger, Olivia (Jake) Bruestle; first great-grandson, Asa Lee Giddings; brother, Jack Howard; sister, Carol Pack; bonus son, Mikey Lawler; best friends, Bill and Linda Sumner.

Sonny was a retired truck driver. He enjoyed going down to Camp Creek with his son Gerald to bush hog the property. Sonny was a great story teller and known for his “Papisms” and hillbilly engineering skills--- fixing everything with duct tape and glue. He played a lot of euchre and dominos over the years with Mom and friends. He enjoyed weekly outings to Texas Roadhouse and was an avid collector of yard sale items.

A celebration of Sonny’s life will begin at 1:00 pm Sunday, September 1, 2024 at Schoedinger East, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., with sharing of memories followed by visitation until 4:00 pm.
