Geraldine "Gerry" Marie (Hahn) Hamilton, age 93, died Friday, August 17, 2012 at Holly Creek Christian Living Community, with her family by her side. Gerry was born on June 1, 1919 in Elyria, Ohio, the daughter of Henry and Johanna Hahn. On August 7, 1948 she married Harry Hamilton, and he preceded her in death on November 1, 1977. She is survived by her daughter, Kit Eschner and her husband, Terry of Englewood, Colorado; and her son, Brian Hamilton, and his wife, Harriet of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Other survivors include her grandchildren, Sarah Eschner of Denver, Colorado, Lane Eschner of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Drew Hamilton of Ypsilanti, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brother John, and sisters Betty and Josephine. She and Harry were two of the original residents of Lincoln Village in Columbus, Ohio where they built a home, raised their family, and watched the community grow. Gerry was very active in community life, serving as president of the Women's Club and, for many years, producing the Railsplitter, the Lincoln Village newsletter, among many other volunteer activities. She was also a long-time real estate broker in the Lincoln Village area. Gerry moved to Centennial, Colorado in 2003 after living her entire life in Ohio. Her sense of humor and fiery spirit served her well in Colorado, where she was able to engage the people around her in a powerful way. Gerry was deeply loved by her caregivers and friends at Holly Creek and truly built a new community there. A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Sunset Cemetery, 6959 W. Broad Street, Galloway, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association .
