Geraldine Lynn Riley, affectionately known as “Geri,” passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on May 8, 1950, in Columbus, Ohio, Geri was one of five children of the late Richard and Ruth Riley. She shared a particularly close bond with her mother and cared for her prior to her passing. Geri worked hard throughout her life, including positions at Sears Distribution Center and Borders. A proud and passionate sports fan, she especially loved cheering on her beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. A true West-sider through and through, Geri found joy in the simple pleasures of life—socializing at local bars and taverns, enjoying Coors Light, playing cards, gambling, and spending time at the American Legion Post #532. She was a regular at the Western Café and the Biltmore, where her vibrant spirit and no-nonsense attitude left a lasting impression. She had a deep love for animals, especially cats, and cared for many over the years. Geri also enjoyed swimming and cherished her Sunday family dinners, which were a weekly tradition. Fierce, fun, and full of life, Geri will be remembered for her spirited personality and her devotion to those she held dear. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, John Scior; and sister, Sandy Hartman. Survived by her daughters, Kelly Riley and Tricia Scior; granddaughter, Katrina Baldwin (Jamie); great grandchildren, Levi, Savanna and Maddie; brother, Rick Riley; sisters, Patty (Willard) Stainer and Becky (Butch) Cremeans; nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Advantage Funeral & Cremation by Schoedinger Hilltop, 3030 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43204.
In honor of Geri’s love for The Ohio State Buckeyes, guests are encouraged to bring a red flower or wear their favorite OSU attire to her visitation.
