Gordon E. Nygren

Gordon Earl Nygren, 81, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017, surrounded by family at St. Ann's Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ellen Marie Nygren; his daughter Sondra and husband Dan Johnson; his daughter Karen and husband Robert Matis; his daughter Jennifer Duncan; his son Geoffrey and wife Carol Nygren; 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was loved and will be missed. Born March 19, 1936 and raised in Jamestown, New York, he met his wife Marie while attending Roberts Wesleyan College in North Chili, New York. A long career in sales and management included employment with Rockwell Manufacturing, and the creation of G.E. Nygren Associates, a manufacturer's representative organization for outdoor sports. Gordon enjoyed travel throughout the world and was fluent in four languages. He was an avid hunter and sportsman. In later years, he became a lay minister for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. He was a collector at heart, and loved the study of history and religion. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 5 from 5-8pm at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna. Gordon's funeral will be held Thursday, April 6 at 10am at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 4456 Morse Rd, Gahanna 43230. Pastor Steve Brown will officiate. Interment to follow at Blendon Central Cemetery.
